Apache Solr is an excellent open source fulltext indexing server. It can be easily access from Python (web) applications using the sunburnt client library (pythonic and fast thanks to lxml).

This lightening talk will introduce the main fulltext search concepts, quickly overview the simple sunburnt API, and show how to use Solr to build a universal document classifier using the Categories of Wikipedia.
