Visa

Check if You Need a Visa

If you plan to attend PyConFR 2025 in Lyon, please check if you need a visa to enter France and apply as early as possible.

France is part of the Schengen area. If you already have a valid Schengen visa, you do not need to apply for an additional one. If in doubt, please contact your consulate or embassy.

You can also visit the France Visas website to check if you need a visa.

Invitation Letter

If you need a visa, we can provide an invitation letter for your application.

Invitation letter requests should be sent via email to secretaire@afpy.org. Please include the following information in your request:

  • Title (Mr./Ms.),
  • Full name,
  • Date of birth,
  • Nationality,
  • Passport number,
  • Title of your presentation at the event (if applicable),
  • Amount of the grant provided by AFPy (if applicable),
  • Name of the sponsoring company you represent (if applicable).

Getting to the Campus

By Car

The campus is in the Vaise / Gorge de Loup neighborhood, next to exit number 38 of the A6/M6 highway (North entrance of the Fourvière tunnel).

You're coming by car and you have room? Consider carsharing :).

By Public Transport

The campus can be reached by public transport:

  • By subway: line D, Gorge de Loup stop.
  • By bus: Gorge de Loup stop.

It is possible to pay your travel directly with a credit card, in all buses, tramways and subways.

By Train

From the Part-Dieu train station, you can take the B subway to the Saxe-Gambetta stop, and then the D subway to the Gorge de Loup stop (about 20 minutes).

From the Perrache train station, you can take the A subway to the Bellecour stop, and then the D subway to the Gorge de Loup stop (about 15 minutes).

By Plane

From the Saint-Exupéry airport, you can take the Rhône Express tramway to the Carré de Soie stop, then the A subway to the Bellecour stop, and then the D subway to the Gorge de Loup stop.

Accommodation Advice

The ideal location for being both downtown and close to the conference is Bellecour, but it's a very touristy area and therefore potentially expensive.

To make it easier for you to come to the conference and get to the city center, try to be close to a metro station A (between Perrache and Charpennes), B (between Jean Macé and Charpennes) or D (between Saxe-Gambetta and Gorge de Loup).
